Best Buy Apps

We are very fortunate that the first users of the Best Buy Android app care enough to take the time to comment.  It is motivating to us to get such instantaneous feedback- both positive and negative.  For the users that make comments about what we should add or what expectations were missed, we can only hope that we can build fast enough.

We made a conscious choice to release our application with limited features.  Doing so would allow us to get a functional application into the Market sooner and would provide users something tangible on which to comment.   It was our hope that users would tell us which features were most important to them.

We get our comments and feedback on several fronts including:

• The Market- these are the comments that users make in the Market listing when they download the application.  You can see these comments here.
• Best Buy IdeaX- we have a “Current” on IdeaX that is all about recommendations for our Android Application.
• This Blog – Your comments to our entries here are reviewed regularly
• Email – From within the application, we take comments via email to bbyandroid@gmail.com

So far, we have been able to draw out some strong themes from all the comments.  Below is a list of the most requested changes/additions along with a brief status update:

• Add Weekly Deals – This is at the top of our list and is a work in progress.
• Add Store Locator – DONE! We added this in our latest release.
• Add More Offers – Coming VERY soon.  Along with Weekly Deals, this is at the top of our list.
• Improve Search – We know the search results need work. We are working to improve this as quickly as possible.
• Add a Scanner – YES!  This is on our roadmap.
• Enable Landscape View – DONE! We added this in the second release.
• Integrate Reward Zone – YES!  This is on our roadmap.
• Augmented Reality – Awesome idea.  We have been wanting to add AR features.  This is a lower priority but of HIGH interest.
• Self Checkout  – We like this one too.  We are actively exploring ways to make this work.
• Search Product by Photo – This is already being actively pursued.  We have some work to do to make this one happen.
• Improve product and offer sharing – Yes. Besides Twitter and Facebook, are their any other social platforms we should keep in mind?  Google Buzz?

We are also actively considering other features including gift registry, and product compare features.
