Giftag Firefox Add-on update

There’s an update on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10482 Due to a problem on Mozilla’s web site, you have have to create an account first (on Mozilla’s site), log in and then you can install (after clicking on the appropriate checkboxes)  (Otherwise, you’ll get a cryptic error message when you try to install the addon)

You should probably remove the existing Giftag add-on before installing the new one (just in case there’s a conflict).

Getting Dressed in a Glass House

It’s been just over a week since the launch of Twelpforce, Best Buy’s new Twitter based customer service platform, but it seems like we’ve been doing this forever!  As one of the Leads for Twelpforce, I play sort of an Air Traffic Control role, and since it’s soft launch on 6/19, let me tell you, it’s been a fantastic experience so far.  One of my first learnings was that we need to be OK with the fact that there’s simply no way to organize an effort like this behind closed doors.  I started comparing it to getting dressed in a glass house.  Everyone sees everything :)

Leveraging the Cloud to Connect with Customers

Posted July 21st, 2009 by Lars Forsberg

This is a guest post from Lars Forsberg about the making of Best Buy Connect and Twelpforce. Lars is a Project Manager for Enomaly with an affinity for open source and social media. He is also a friend.

connectIn late May, Gary Koelling and Steve Bendt came to Enomaly looking for our help to realize their latest brainchild, called Connect. We’d previously worked with Best Buy to develop an internal social networking site called Blueshirt Nation and we were pleased to have another opportunity to collaborate with them.

Inspired by Ben Hedrington’s ConnectTweet, the concept was simple; Connect BlueShirts directly with customers via twitter. In less than two months, Enomaly developed a Python application on Google App Engine to syndicate tweets from Best Buy employees and rebroadcast them. Thereby allowing customers to ask questions via twitter (@twelpforce) and have the answer crowdsourced to a vast network of Best Buy employees who are participating in the service. Now the answer to “looking for a Helmet Cam I can use for snowboarding and road trips” is only a tweet away.

Updated Best Buy iPhone App – Weekly Deals

Posted July 1st, 2009 by Gary Koelling

Best Buy's first iPhone app

The Best Buy Weekly Deals mobile app allows iPhone users to view weekly deals and mobile-only specials and find the nearest Best Buy store.

The current version doesn’t have all the cool features we want but it’s a start. Look for product reviews, exclusive content and click-to-buy features (among others) in the coming weeks and months.

Let us know what you think of this version and tell us what you’d like to see in future versions.

-Fixed a number of memory issues
-Catalog caching implemented, catalog will only download if it’s newer than the cached version
-Store location detail view, with map & call buttons
-Store Location distance, hours and full address display
-Various tweaks to item detail display

Thanks for all the feedback – 60 reviews and almost 2000 ratings. Today we’re at two and half stars – shooting for at least three and a half by end of summer. Keep the feedback coming
